All about Dominique Sakoilsky
I started my career in the arena of birth after my first child was born over twenty-four years ago when I trained at the Active Birth Centre with Janet Balaskas. I worked there for ten years with pregnant women and couples running workshops and yoga classes and have recently rejoined their team training Active Birth teachers and midwives offering a course called The Seven Secrets of Joyful Birth based on my book of the same title published last March. However working in the arena of birth got me interested in supporting families in many different ways and over time I trained in other modalities that helped support growth and family life. I trained with Relate where I worked for ten years as a couple counsellor then a Systemic Family Counsellor. I also trained as a yoga teacher with Sophie Hoare and John Stirke. This was followed by training as a Craniosacral Therapist, with the Institute of Craniosacral Therapy qualifying in 2001 and I work as part of a team at the Bristol Centre for Craniosacral Therapy alongside a busy private practice in relationship counselling, family support and birth support. In 2007 I set up a company called Relaxed Birth and Parenting which runs a professional training for doulas and antenatal teachers and runs birth classes for pregnant women and their families.. I continue to work for Relate as part of their professional training team in Bristol offering Conflict Resolution and Active Listening Skills to health professionals and social workers. In 2006 I trained with James Burgess to be a 7 Words Guide (www.7words.co.uk) and I now offer workshops on relationships, birth and parenting based on this system. I have a passion for supporting individuals in embodying as consciously and fully as we can, finding health, freedom and self-knowledge though mind-body understanding, working with early patterning and experience.
I have two grown up sons and one teenage daughter, and am married and living in Bristol, UK.
