How to get happy and healthy hair

Healthy hair is something that everyone wants, so especially for you,  Natural Cures’ expert  Anthony Morrocco shares his top tips for keeping your locks in great condition.

Anthony has practised holistic hair care for over 40 years and his clients have included Jackie Kennedy, Mia Farrow and Liza Minnelli. But you don’t need to be a Hollywood star or a celebrity to have A-lister hair – it will come naturally by simply using the Morrocco Method.

To keep your hair in a constant “re-growth journey” just follow the six simple steps:

Step 1 – Chemical to Natural

Make the switch from chemical to natural! But a word of caution, make sure the products you are using are truly natural like Morrocco Method.

Alternate each shampoo and do the same with conditioners. For helpful tips about how to alternate shampoo check out this video!

Step 2 – Proper Brushing

Proper brushing is crucial. Anthony recommends using Mason Pearson brushes. As we are all creatures of habit, it’s best to set good habits daily and then they come automatically without thinking. This makes them really effective! Check out the video below for additional information.

Step 3 – Seasonal Cutting

Seasonal cutting is an important step to address hair re-growth or maintaining truly luxurious hair. So remember to cut according to the seasons! The shortest cut of the year should be during the Spring, keeping the hair short for the Summer and even the Fall as long as the weather holds out. When it gets cold you can let the hair grow longer for protection from the wintry elements.

For men, it’s best to cut hair every four to six weeks. The top of the head can be kept as short as possible, i.e. from one inch above the ears and above, and then from the tip of the ear and below, any length goes (as long as it is comfortable!) This is due to the sebaceous glands (oil glands) that are very thin on the top of the head.

For women, Anthony recommends one cut per season – the  Spring Equinox, Summer Solstice, Fall Equinox, and Winter Solstice. Use a blunt snip-cut technique when the hair is wet. Blunt cut the ends only, making sure the ends are as blunt and thick as possible.

Step 4 – You Are What You Eat

A proper diet is essential for healthy hair and it’s really very simple: if you eat live food, you produce live cells, and if you eat dead food, you produce dead cells! So it makes sense to follow a diet that is rich in live, healthy, protein-based foods.

Step 5 – Exercise

Any exercise to stimulate the blood and airflow is excellent. The perfect way to do this can be through walking, yoga, quigong, tai-chi or simply going to the gym or joining an exercise class. Even as little as 30 minutes a day can be beneficial.

Step 6 – A Positive Attitude

Don’t waste energy thinking over past history and dwelling on previous hair problems or disasters! Instead, be positive and act in the here and now. Forming positive, daily habits can have a real impact on hair health and is an important step to hair re-growth.

Remember, hair care should be truly natural and simply pure. From all of us at the Morrocco Method, we wish you great health and hair!
