Candida and Excess Weight

One of the major problems associated with Candida albicans yeast overgrowth is weight gain. A person with systemic Candida will often crave sugar and simple carbohydrates because this is the main source of nutrients for the yeast organism. Mood swings and depression are often due to the rapid change in blood sugar levels caused by the yeast. Fermentation of foods in the intestines by the yeast naturally release gas, which causes bloating, and may also lead to alcohol production that is absorbed through the gut and may lead to symptoms of confusion, altered behavior, and difficulty concentrating.

Stress causes an additional burden on the immune system and makes a person more likely to eat the wrong foods. Eating quickly may contribute to the proliferation of Candida. It is vital to chew slowly to produce saliva that starts healthy digestion. Chewing food carefully allows the friendly microbes (Lactobacillus bifidus, L. bulgaricus, and L. acidophilus and others) to do their jobs providing vitamins B and K, and assimilating the other nutrients we derive from food.

When one has Candida overgrowth and the subsequent craving for the foods that feed it, a vicious circle is created: Candida overgrowth, malabsorption of nutrients, weight gain, toxicity, feelings of exhaustion and depression, and more craving. The weight gain is exacerbated if one does not engage in regular exercise.

The only way out of this cycle is to control the Candida overgrowth. One of the most effective ways to do this is to do the Natural Cures Candida Cleanse. The cleanse involves the elimination of all sugars and most carbohydrates, except for select whole grains, for a period of time. There are other techniques as well. You can read about them on the Natural Cures website.

Focusing on removing Candida albicans from the body rewards the dieter with a feeling of well being and weight loss that is steady, sustainable and healthy.
