How to increase Vitamin D absorption
As we head in to Winter in the Northern Hemisphere discussions turn to the challenges in getting enough natural Vitamin D in your system.
If you aren’t lucky enough to be able to follow the sun year-round, there are a few easy ways to increase the amount of Vitamin D in your body.
Ditch the Sunglasses & go outside
Sounds simple, but if the sun is shining, head out, take off the shades and enjoy a little “me time”. We like hitting the sunrise, especially when it’s a little later than mid summer.
Sunglasses and shades may look cool, but they inhibit the amount of Vitamin D you can absorb. Some reports say the boost from sunshine lasts in your body for twice as long as other methods.
Make room for mushrooms! (and other Vit D rich foods)
Make sure you are consuming mushrooms, fatty fishes and seafood in your diet. Tuna, sardines and anchovies will all help give a little boost and have good Omega 3’s too.
The most effective way to supplement with Vitamin D
As you know hard compressed white tablets are extremely poor at facilitating absorption, some say less than 30% actually gets into your body.
Next up is gel caps and veggie caps, much better but not the best.
We love the Vitamin D3 oral sprays at home, and typically use the 3000 iu dosage varieties. As we are “Very British” here at Natural Cures HQ, we keep ours next to the kettle so we see it every day! Keep it somewhere handy.
As you know Naturalcures.com doesn’t sell any specific products, so you are good to pick and purchases what you want, when you want.
We love supporting our local health food stores, but also use Amazon for convenience. If you don’t have a store near you, here’s a selection of Vitamin D sprays from Amazon
