Oral Fungal Infections: Natural Treatments
Mouth fungus, candidiasis, thrush, perleche, black tongue, several names to talk about the proliferation of candida albican. It is a decrease in immune defense, an imbalance of the intestinal flora, an emotional shock that allows this fungus to develop in an anarchic way and cause an overall imbalance of the oral-digestive ecosystem, because what is seen in the mouth also exists throughout the digestive tract. Natural dentistry takes a global look at this unpleasant condition
Not well known
As Daniele Festy (a French pharmacist, specialized in essential oils) says in her “bible of essential oils”, “digestive and oral mycosis are always linked: intestinal disorders that never end (gas, intestinal cramps, transit disturbances) sugar cravings, repetitive genital or urinary infections (cystitis, mycosis) concentration disorders, dizziness, feeling of not being able to focus attention, sleep disorders, allergies (skin, respiratory, digestive) headaches, changing mood (not to say execrable) fatigue, tiredness … big fatigue. Candidiasis is extraordinarily frequent and just as extraordinarily unknown.
Watch your mouth
If you wander from gynecological consultations to digestive consultations, passing by the psychiatrist or the dermatologist, think of an intestinal candidiasis! Observe the mucous membranes in your mouth. Are they red? With white alveolar traces? Do you have burning sensations, irritations? Because oral signs are often early and unequivocal signs.
The dentist’s advice
- Descale to remove all bacterial plaque to avoid superinfection.
- If you have periodontal disease, local and general treatment must be started quickly to treat any infection and stop the inflammation.
- Ask for advice on good dental hygiene (the dental assistant will be happy to fulfill this mission in which she excels!).
- After scaling, put 2 pure drops of tea tree essential oil on the tongue and spread the product on all mucous membranes with the tongue. Keep the saliva in your mouth for 2 minutes before swallowing.
In addition

Keep this mixture in the mouth by emulsifying it for 10 minutes. Spit out without rinsing.
At the onset of symptoms, to be done 3 times a day for 4 days and then continue this mouthwash every night for 1 month.
Herxheimer reaction: do not panic
It is a worsening of the symptoms of mycosis with great fatigue after the first week of treatment. This is temporary. It is the result of toxins and waste products that are released in the intestines when the candida is destroyed and must be neutralized and eliminated by the liver.
If the liver is having trouble doing its job
Take Mary Thistle which is in the DETOXEA from NUTRIXEAL 1 to 2 capsules a day, before meals, for 1 month and at the same time reduce the doses of Candidapur and the essential oil capsules to 2 times a day until energy is regained, then resume normal doses until the end of the treatment.
To prevent recurrences by acting in the field work on strengthening the intestinal mucosa and balance the intestinal flora with pre and pro-biotics. To alkalinize the organism. Ask your favorite naturopathic doctor for advice.
Adapted diet
Eat garlic, grapefruit, vegetable juice, protein. Reduce sugar. It is even advisable to stop it completely (including cereals and fruits) during periods of crisis.
Avoid: bread, beer, cheese, mushrooms, refined oils.
Mouth fungus and its emotions
The child develops thrush because he feels vulnerable. He needs contact with his father and mother to feel safe and out of danger. Need physical contact, being hugged, caressed, so that the thrush goes away.
In adults it is the inner child who needs to be safe. The person who develops a mycosis feels an emotional void, melancholy.
If the fungus appears on the tongue, it is because the person has difficulty making his needs heard, he feels unable to communicate what he feels. He would like people to know, to guess what he wants. This leads to frustration and aggression.
The person who develops fungus can also find themselves in a blurred situation and not know which way to go. Decision-making is difficult. Feeling like you’re not evolving.
In conclusion
The presence of an oral thrush should always alert us to a deficient general condition. Even if the above treatments will give excellent results, it is advisable to refer you to a homeopathic general practitioner or a naturopathic doctor to work in depth on a new lifestyle.

Catherine Rossi
Dr. Catherine ROSSI, dentist, graduate of the Faculty of dental surgery of Toulouse (France) in 1984, I discovered natural medicine in 1983.
I have been practicing my profession in Paris since 1985. I have 3 daughters, 2 grand ‘daughters and I am happy!
The day I started treating myself with alternative medicine and experienced the miracles it had on my health, it became for me inconceivable to prescribe for my patients allopathic remedies as I was taught to do so in the university.
Therefore, I studied and incorporated homeopathy, aromatherapy, phytotherapy, acupuncture etc. into my practice from the very start.
This practice which has come to be defined “holistic dentistry” became for me a reason for being. It was accompanied by a personal evolution, an art of living in harmony with nature, of a consciousness in the role of each living being in the balance of our universe.
As my personal and spiritual work evolves, the care that I provide to my patients has taken on a special dimension: my relationship to another takes on character of sacredness in trust and in Love.
I present this blog to you as my modest contribution for a better world because my belief is that: on the path of life we always advance the best with good teeth.
